On April 21, 2015 Google will officially change is search engine algorithms to factor in mobile friendly websites. Basically this means that a mobile friendly website will outrank a website that isn’t mobile friendly. This is because with more and more people conducting searches from their mobile phones and tablets it is important that websites be adaptable to the users screen and easy to use.
What does this mean for already mobile friendly websites?
This is great news because it means you now have a leg up on your competition! Without even doing anything, Google will give you higher ranking over websites that are not mobile friendly. To check to see if your website is considered Mobile Friendly use Google’s Mobile Friendly Test Tool.
What if my website isn’t mobile friendly?
Now is as good a time as any to get on board! By not having a responsive website you are knowingly giving your competitors an advantage. A mobile friendly website means you are focusing on your customer’s needs and user experience. When your website adapts to whatever screen it is on with minimal scrolling and zooming this allows your customer to find the relevant and helpful information they are looking for. A mobile friendly website is about them not you.
